Online vs. in-store shopping preferences of internet users in the United States as of August 2019, by product category

According to an August 2019 survey, TV and video devices were one of the most popular categories that internet users in the United States preferred to shop online. A total of 46 percent of respondents stated that they shopped digitally for TV and video devices. The most popular category to purchase online was financial services: 47 percent of respondents chose to buy financial products through the internet. Fast-moving consumer goods such as household cleaning products or packaged food and beverages were still predominantly bought in-store.
